If you are just talking about revenue, here are a couple of resources. CNN has a 2011 list of the world's most profitable companies. They list Nestlé, the global food giant, as the top earner. Forbes has another interesting article looking at the most and least profitable businesses to start. At Echoing Green, we use the lens of positive social impact to create a more holistic understanding of what success means. I personally think that new languages and tools need to be employed so we can better account for impact when measuring value. Two systems that have been developed to do this are GIIRS and IRIS. Very cool solutions to the issue of measuring impact in my opinion.
